SBS Technologies Unveils Three High Performance Single Board Computers Using Intel Pentium M Processors

LONG BEACH, Calif., Jan. 19, 2004--SBS Technologies(R) (Nasdaq:SBSE):
  • Intel(R) Pentium(R) M CPU-600 MHz to 1.6 GHz
  • Two Gigabit Ethernet ports 10/100/1000 BaseT front or rear panel optional
  • NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) 4 410/420 Go graphics accelerator
  • PICMG 2.16 compliant
  • Two PMC expansion slots for additional I/O capabilities
  • CR9 available with conduction cooling; CP9 supports full size hard disk; CT9 with IPMI is optimized for telecommunications Today at the Bus and Board Conference, SBS Technologies(R) (Nasdaq:SBSE) introduced three new high-performance 6U CompactPCI single board computers (SBCs). Configured with different feature sets, the CT9, CP9 and CR9 deliver the speed and bandwidth needed for performance-oriented applications while benefiting from the low power consumption of the Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor. "High performance embedded applications in both the commercial and government markets have ever growing demands for raw processing power, as well as stringent power requirements," said Adrian Bernhard, Managing Director, SBS Europe. "The 1.6 GHz Pentium M is the foundation of these SBCs, which are enhanced through their I/O interfaces, communications capabilities, and graphics subsystems. These three boards set new benchmarks for the overall performance an engineer can expect from embedded systems processor boards." Each board in this family supports the PICMG 2.16 dual Ethernet and PICMG 2.1 hot-swap specification. They all have 64-bit/66 MHz CompactPCI bus interfaces, two PMC slots, and are capable of being used in a system or non-system (peripheral) slot. The graphics are powered by an NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) 4 Go graphics accelerator providing VGA/LCD resolutions up to 2048x1536. All three SBCs offer the added feature of five USB 2.0 ports, one on the front panel and four out the rear. CT9 The CT9 offers a high level of functional integration within a single slot, giving users the freedom to use the PMC interfaces to customize the SBC for their applications. This platform supports IPMI PICMG 2.9 system management in addition to full hot-swap support. The board is H.110 friendly and will not conflict with those signals on the backplane. The CT9 is designed for a broad range of applications such as wireless, voice over packet, enterprise devices and server blade applications. CP9 The CP9 has a dual slot wide front panel that allows two PMCs and a hard disk or a Flash drive to be mounted in parallel. This compact all-in-one CPU module is suited for I/O intensive applications like automation, industrial control, transportation, and others. The CP9 is also available in an extended temperature version with an operating temperature range of -40 degrees to +55 degrees C. CR9 The CR9 is designed to meet the harsh environmental requirements of markets such as heavy industry, simulation/training, test and measurement, military and aerospace. The low power consumption of the Pentium M allows the CR9 to address the need for Intel processors in environments that once were limited by cooling restrictions. The CR9 can address rugged requirements with optional conduction cooling (VITA 30.1-2001 and ANSI/VITA 20-2001), wedge-locks, and rear I/O. This family of processor boards supports several real-time and commercial operating systems. For VxWorks(R), it is also part of SBS' Ready Driver(TM) program for I/O compatibility. Visit the SBS website for a complete list of support operating systems. A transition module, the CTM12, may be used with any of the boards in this family of processors. Pricing & Availability All single board computers are available now and pricing is based on configuration. Starting price for the CT9 is US $3800.00. Starting price for the CR9 and the CP9 is US $3750.00.
