At the Engineering Design Show (19th - 20th October 2016 - Ricoh Arena, Coventry, UK) Abaco’s Ian McCormick, Design Services Manager; Jim Rose, PCB Layout Engineer; and Mike Tapp, PCB Layout Engineer will give a presentation that will give insight into the complexities and challenges of designing powerful embedded computers. The team will look at the mix of skills needed by the layout engineer and the various stages of the design process, and discuss the conflicting requirements of other elements of the design, such as mechanical/thermal, signal integrity, cost drivers and how to manage them. Also considered will be the exchange of information between design functions and good design practice.

Earlier this year, Abaco was chosen by Mentor Graphics as the winner of “Best Overall Design” in Mentor’s 26th annual PCB Technology Leadership Awards. The award acknowledges engineers and designers who use innovative methods and design tools to address today’s complex PCB systems design challenges and produce industry-leading products.

The honor recognizes the design of Abaco’s recently-announced SBC347D, a rugged 3U OpenVPX single board computer, and illustrates Abaco’s commitment to deliver innovative rugged embedded products to customers with optimal SWaP (size, weight and power).

The Engineering Design Show is described as the UK’s must-attend event for engineering, electronics and embedded design.
