CP949 is a 7-port Ethernet switch in a conduction cooled, single-slot 6U CPCI form factor. The CP949 uses a high-performance switch fabric to deliver full wire-speed switch performance at Layer 2. The CP949 includes a management processor capable of configuring the switch, monitoring port status, and responding to SNMP requests. The management processor can be accessed over the serial port (which is connected to CPCI J5) or via telnet. The fundamental feature of the CP949 is a switch fabric that is capable of full wire-speed switching, allowing a maximum aggregate throughput that is the sum of all ports. Use of a switch fabric increases overall capacity and reduces typical latency as multiple ports can be forwarding packets at the same time. A packet will only be delayed if there is already activity on the destination port. Switching is at Layer 2 (Media Access) only.
