SDL Communications, the global leader in high-performance wide area networking (WAN) adapters, today announced the availability of its WANic 520/560 Line, a new family of PCI WAN adapters that support single T1, quad T1, single multi-interface (X.21, V.35 and EIA-530) and quad multi-interface. The following products are included in SDL's latest WANic 520/560 product line: WANic 521: Single port multi-interface (V.35, X.21, RS232) adapter WANic 522: Dual port multi-interface (V.35, X.21, RS232) adapter WANic 524: Quad port multi-interface (V.35, X.21, RS232) adapter WANic 561: Single port T1 adapter with CSU/DSU interface WANic 562: Dual port T1 adapter with CSU/DSU interface WANic 562-MI: Single multi-interface adapter with T1 CSU/DSU interface WANic 564: Quad port T1 adapter with CSU/DSU interface Based on a modular design that features a common base adapter and a family of physical interface modules, the WANic 520/560 Line offers a provision for two interface option (I/O) modules. Featuring a low latency PCI interface and a Quad Multi-protocol Controller (QMC4) that supports 4 full duplex ports at 4 Mbps each, the WANic 520/560 Line is designed to burst into host memory at 132 MBps and support an aggregate full duplex speed of 16 Mbps. The CompactPCI and PMC versions of this line of adapters are currently in development and planned for release in 2000. Software Support The WANic 520/560 Line provides driver support for VxWorks®, Windows NT® and popular versions of UNIX®. In addition, WAN protocol stacks for Frame Relay and PPP are offered with this new line of products. As with all SDL products, the WANic 520/560 Line is available with a comprehensive Driver Development Kit (DDK) that contains a comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API), sample code, diagnostics and support documentation. The DDK complements SDL's CP/2 TM product design architecture and is designed to reduce required OEM integration time and speed new product introduction. CP/2 Architecture: Industry Leading Approach to Hardware and Software Design Targeted for use in applications such as convergence networking platforms, router interfaces, integrated access devices, satellite transmitters/receivers and WAN test equipment, the WANic 520/560 Line is a product of SDL's CP/2 Architecture. CP/2 Architecture is a modular approach to hardware and software design that utilizes common components, interfaces, hardware platforms and software drivers to develop WAN adapters.
