SBS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBSE) today introduced Adirondack, a dual IBM PowerPC™ 750CXe ATX board, running at processor speeds from 400 to 667 MHz, with IBM's CPC710 Dual Bridge and Memory Controller™ at up to 133 MHz. With VxWorks and Linux software support plus PCI expansion capability, Adirondack takes full advantage of IBM chipsets to provide an ideal evaluation and prototyping platform. "IBM's PowerPC processors offer state of the art technology in a variety of configurations to provide the optimal mix of performance, power, functionality and size," said Tom Collopy, IBM's Program Director, Embedded PowerPC Development. "The SBS Adirondack platform provides the ability to evaluate attributes of the 750CXe and CPC710 in an actual prototyping system." "Working with IBM on the Adirondack design resulted in a high-performance single board computer that dramatically shortens a product's time-to-market. Customers have the opportunity to experiment with Linux, VxWorks and a multitude of WAN, SAN and LAN I/O PCI cards using Adirondack as their rapid development kit," contributes Bret Farnum, President SBS Communications Products. Featuring dual 750CXe processors with on-chip L2 cache and the high bandwidth CPC710 Dual Bridge and Memory Controller, Adirondack is the ideal development platform. This unique combination gives new and existing PowerPC users the ability to rapidly prototype future systems enabling parallel hardware and software development. Additional memory and I/O features for Adirondack include 128 MB to 1 GB SDRAM, 16 to 64 MB flash, SCSI-3, ATA-100, floppy, USB and dual Ethernet. Six PCI slots enable expansion for Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, T1/E1, HSSI, DS3, MPEG, and other standard PCI cards, which enhance low-profile applications. SBS also provides custom PowerPC design and manufacturing to meet specific requirements of varied OEM applications. Adirondack will be on display at Network World Interop in both the IBM booth 8201 and SBS booth 7651. Pricing and Availability Adirondack will be available in early June. List pricing for Adirondack starts at $3,395. For detailed pricing and availability information, please contact the SBS sales team at (888) SBS-COMM or via e-mail at sales.cpu@sbs.com.
