SBS Technologies, Inc., Computer Group, (Nasdaq: SBSE), today announced a new ultra-compact, single-slot 3U board that features Motorola PowerPC 7400/75x technology with processing speeds up to 500 MHz, a 32-bit interface and PCI-PCI bridging for increased application throughput. This CompactPCI CPU board, with a flexible I/O and memory configuration, is ideal for embedded industrial automation, medical, scientific, imaging, telecommunications, military and aerospace applications.

Feature Rich, Ultra-Compact Design
On-board features and peripherals include 10/100Base Fast Ethernet, RTC, Watchdog and four counter timers, four serial channels with RS-232 and RS-422/485 interfaces, 32 Kbytes non-volatile SRAM, temperature sensor, PMC expansion, up to 128MB SDRAM, 48MB of FLASH and I2O intelligent I/O support. Rugged and military uses for the RL4 CPU card take advantage of the optional conduction cooled configuration, extended temperature capabilities
[-40&61616;C to +85&61616;C], conformal coating and increased shock and vibration immunity with the use of stiffener bars and wedge locks.
The RL4 provides more user features than any other 3U PowerPC product on the market. Along with the 128Mb SDRAM capacity, the FLASH memory configuration provides up to 32Mb of 64-bit FLASH for applications as well as 8MB 8-bit boot FLASH. With the addition of a PMC module, the board can be configured to meet different requirements but still maintain a single-slot 3U CompactPCI configuration.
Price and Availability
The RL4 is immediately available starting at $2,295 in the U. S. for 100 piece quantities. Software available for the RL4 includes monitor/diagnostics, VxWorks, and LynxOS.
