SBS Technologies, Inc., Aerospace Group Introduces TRACS - An Integrated Satellite Telemetry, Ranging and Commanding System

SBS Technologies, Inc., Aerospace Group announces the availability of TRACS, an integrated satellite telemetry, ranging and commanding system. TRACS is designed to support both satellite integration and test at the factory and on-orbit operations. This system provides users with the foundation of a flexible satellite ground-segment solution. TRACS builds upon SBS Aerospace's commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) board level telemetry products (4400 Series) and Windows NT based software (DataXpress&8482;). "Our aim is to provide todayís satellite ground segment designer with an unmatched set of open and re-configurable telemetry hardware and software products," explains Bryan Graber, General Manager, SBS Technologies, Inc., Telemetry Products. "With this approach, designers can integrate their own unique hardware or third party satellite command and control software packages into TRACS and can avoid being ìlocked-inî to a particular vendor's products." Pricing and Availability
TRACS is a configurable system with pricing being directly related to the hardware and software selected. The rough order magnitude (ROM) price for a single stream Intermediate Frequency (IF) Downlink and IF Uplink processing system, including an aptly configured PC running Windows NT, is $59,000. Shipments are within 90 days. How it works
TRACS is operated via a Windows NT based Graphical User Interface (GUI). Using this GUI, the user configures installed hardware components ranging from RF downconversion parameters to decommutation filters for captured telemetry. During operation, dynamic controls allow for real-time adjustments. Data processing can be tailored for mission-specific requirements such as limit checking and report generation. All control parameters and output selections can be stored to allow quick access to multiple configurations while maintaining a high level of flexibility. The TRACS GUI provides single point operation of multiple hardware elements leading to reduced integration time. TRACS is designed to be user-upgradable and expandable in order to quickly integrate with third party hardware and/or software. Users can integrate applications such as LAN (Local Area Network) data distribution and widely used graphical display packages. About SBS Technologies, Inc., Aerospace Group
