SBS Technologies (NASDAQ: SBSE) today announced the introduction of Palomar™ IV and V, two new additions to its Palomar series of high-performance PowerPC™ Processor PMC modules (PPMC). Palomar IV's unique design supports ECC memory and packs the performance of the PowerPC 750 processor and 64 to 256 Mbytes of SDRAM into a PPMC-compliant form factor. Offering 8 Mbytes flash, serial 10/100 Ethernet, and a fast Ethernet port for network connectivity, the Palomar IV design includes 1 Mbyte L2 cache to boost application performance. "The Palomar V is an important component in Village Networks' iOPN2000 product, which is the industry's first optical packet node to integrate the intelligence of light-speed packet processing with the power of optical networking," The only PPMC currently available with up to 1 Gbyte SDRAM, Palomar V also offers 1 Mbyte L2 cache and two I2C interfaces. Palomar IV and V extend the capabilities of PPMCs to include 10/100 Ethernet connectivity, as well as higher memory densities with ECC support. Software Support Palomar IV and V are currently supported with VxWorks and HardHat Linux software. Other real-time kernels can be ported based on user system requirements.
