Albuquerque, NM (February 10, 2004) – Today SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of embedded computing technology, introduced the Tsunami PC104, a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) processor for PC/104 Plus systems. The Tsunami™ PC104 architecture is integrated with SBS' Wave™ FPGA software tool kit which offers developers a platform for easy application development.
Aimed at leveraging FPGA processing into small embedded systems, this
platform is ideal for mobile cart based systems, machine sensor and control I/O applications. The PC/104 Plus processor includes Altera® Stratix™ FPGAs on a 32 bit/33 MHz PCI interface, with enough memory and high bandwidth data paths to make full use of the outstanding processing power of the Stratix chip.
"FPGA-based processing power comes from ASIC-like efficiency of software re-programmable logic, and the ability to parallel-process multiple streams of data," said Ron Strauss, Vice President of SBS Canada. The Wave FPGA software tool kit provides API, drivers, memory controller, source code and application examples. The Tsunami PC104 is one in a family of FPGA processors and I/O modules provided by SBS Technologies. Choose from PCI, PC/104 Plus form factors or select EP1S25 or EP1S40 FPGAs, all operating in a common Wave software development environment for Windows XP/2000.
Price and Availability
The Tsunami PC104 Plus can be purchased as a stand alone board for US $4500, or with the Tsunami Development kit and the Wave FPGA software tool kit, for US $6000.00. Both products are available now.
