High channel density 4 or 8 port IMA monitoring
Universal PCI interface
Auto Discovery feature
IMA group connections
Passive Network Tap system
Albuquerque, NM (February 16, 2005) â Today SBS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SBSE), a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded computer solutions, is continuing its role as an embedded computer industry market leader by introducing the newest member of its WANic 1000 lineâthe quad port WANic 1004 and octal port WANic 1008 high-performance network monitoring adapters.
The WANic 1004/1008 Network Monitoring line brings T1/E1 Inverse Multiplexing for ATM (IMA) network monitoring to Wide Area Networks (WAN). Occupying only one slot, this PCI-based adapter comes with a non-intrusive T1/E1 Tap system, letting network managers easily monitor a high density of network connections. The WANic 1004 adapter monitors up to four T1/E1 duplex links and the WANic 1008 adapter monitors up to eight T1/E1 duplex links. Each monitoring adapter supports IMA and Transmission Convergence (TC) monitoring as well as a combination of both. Up to eight IMA groups or TC connections can be configured and monitored.
"The WANic 1004/1008 line is designed for the demanding requirements of network security, performance monitoring and troubleshooting," said Rubin Dhillon, General Manager of the SBS Technologies Communications design center in Massachusetts." These WAN adapters offer vital network monitoring capabilities in a cost-effective manner without requiring extensive ramp-up time. SBS engineers have designed this network monitor with flexibility and high reliability to meet the challenging requirements of network maintenance."
The WANic 1004/1008 monitoring adapter is installed in a WAN monitoring system and connected to the one or two quad port T1/E1 Monitor Tap, which is included in the kit. Each monitor tap intercepts and passes network traffic to the monitoring system. The monitor tap converts the intercepted traffic from four full-duplex transmit and receive data streams to eight transmit data streams, which are then sent to the monitoring system through a DSX-1 interface. For testing and diagnostics, these adapters conveniently support a local and remote loopback function to the monitor tap.
Price and Availability:
Available now, the quad port WANic 1004 lists for US$2,045, and the octal port WANic 1008 lists for US$2,499.
