Radstone Announces CPX24 Rugged, Managed 24-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch

Highly performant switch is PICMG2.16 compliant, supports IPv6 Continuing to demonstrate the company’s commitment to developing products that deliver leadership price/performance and comply with industry standards, Radstone Embedded Computing today announced the CPX24 rugged Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch.  PICMG2.16 compliant and supporting IPv6, the CPX24 is fully layer two and layer three managed and provides twenty-four copper or fibre Gigabit Ethernet ports.  Uniquely, it also provides two externally available 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to allow two CPX24s to be coupled as a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet switch.  “The CPX24 is undoubtedly the most performant, most flexible managed Gigabit Ethernet switch available on the market today,” said Stuart Heptonstall, Product Marketing Manager, MNG Group at Radstone Embedded Computing.  “Beyond this, the provision of IPv6 conforms to the Department of Defense’s stated requirements for all future programs within the Global Information Grid as it pursues its strategy of network-centric warfare.” In line with the company’s strategy to be able to deliver all the major elements of an embedded computing subsystem for defense and aerospace applications, the CPX24 is designed primarily for larger, more complex managed systems – although it is also suitable for lightly managed or unmanaged solutions.  As standard, it is provided with twenty-four copper ports, of which twenty are PICMG2.16 compliant, with the additional four being available through the optional fitting of a high speed J4/J41 connector.  All of these copper ports can be optionally converted to fibre via a mix of on-board optics and Radstone’s OXB20 Optical Expansion Board, allowing long distance operation or operation within electrically noisy environments.  Additional flexibility is provided by the ability for the two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports to be brought out to a separate optional 10 Gigabit expansion board for very fast subsystem I/O.   Provision of IPv6 support delivers expanded available IP address space (128-bit addressing) and improved end-to-end security, facilitating mobile communications, enhancing quality of service (QoS) and easing system management. The CPX24 can be ordered in any one of five ruggedization levels, and will be available in the first quarter of 2006.
