16- or 24-Port 10/100/1000BaseT unmanaged layer 2 Ethernet Switch
Complies with PICMG 2.16 as Extended Fabric Board
2 MB Packet Memory for improved buffering
VLAN and Link Aggregation Control Protocol
SBS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBSE) has released Sabre 2000, a 6U CompactPCI extended fabric switch that provides maximum flexibility and high switching density. Sabre 2000 features a 16 or 24-port 10/100/1000Base-T layer 2 Ethernet switch with non-blocking operation for 20 ports, making it ideal for advanced telecommunications and enterprise applications requiring multiple interface options and high switching densities, such as core or edge routers, switches, storage area networks and wireless base stations.
Sabre 2000 complies with the PICMG 2.16 Packet Switching Backplane specification as an Extended Fabric Board and is hot-swap compliant for integration into high-availability systems. Auto-negotiation at the port level provides seamless interoperability for a mix of Ethernet connection speeds and modes. The chipset used on Sabre 2000 provides extensive capabilities, including 2 MB of packet memory and automatic flow control.
"Sabre 2000 is part of our line of advanced, standards-based boards and systems, that offer a variety of flexible options to meet the unique solution requirements of our communications customers," said Dan Moore, President of SBS Technologies' Communications and Enterprise Group. "Sabre 2000 can be integrated easily into any Gigabit Ethernet switching system and is perfectly compatible with our Cascade SE2.16, a PICMG 2.16-compliant, high-availability system platform."
Sabre 2000 provides 24 link ports. Various configuration options route one or both link ports to the backplane as additional node links. An optional rear transition module provides access to Ethernet ports not used in the backplane (up to 24 ports).
Pricing & Availability
List price for Sabre 2000 is $6,295. OEM volume pricing is under $3,500. Sabre 2000 is currently available.
