HUNTSVILLE, Ala. â March 30, 2004 â GE Fanuc Automation Americas, Inc., a unit of GE Infrastructure, has announced the new VMIVME-7700, a 6U, single-slot VME single board computer (SBC). The new VMIVME-7700 delivers high performance with low power consumption and supports a wide operational temperature range from -20Ë C to +70Ë C, making it an ideal embedded solution for harsh environments and other applications requiring extended temperature. GE Fanuc is introducing the new VMIVME-7700 at ElectronicaUSA, March 30 â April 1, San Francisco, Booth #2430. âThe introduction of the VMIVME-7700 demonstrates GE Fanucâs strong commitment to providing high performance, low power and affordability in one solution,â said Douglas Albert, vice president of embedded systems, GE Fanuc Automation. âWith the Intel® Ultra Low Voltage Celeron® processor, we can meet ever increasing thermal requirements while offering an exceptional value to users.â Based on Intelâs Ultra Low Voltage Celeron processor and 815E chipset, GE Fanucâs VMIVME-7700 is available at 400 MHz or 650 MHz and includes a 100 MHz system bus, up to 1 GB CompactFlash, a PMC expansion site for additional I/O, and up to 512 MB SDRAM. The VMIVME-7700 supports high-resolution graphics, up to 1600 x 1200, along with 4MB video memory. Available for shipment in April, the VMIVME-7700 also features: two 10/100TX Ethernet ports, two USB 1.1 ports, two high performance 16550-compatible serial ports, and Ultra DMA/100 hard drive and floppy drive controllers. Software programmable timers provided are two 16 bit, two 32 bit, and one watchdog. Operating system support includes Windows® 2000, Windows XP®, QNX, Linux® and VxWorks®.
