HUNTSVILLE, Ala. â January 18, 2005 â GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, Inc., has introduced the PMC721TX, a new Processor PCI Mezzanine Card (PrPMC) that integrates the IBM® PowerPC® 440GX processor with up to 512 Mbytes dual data rate (DDR) SDRAM, 8 Mbytes of on-board flash memory and a 133 MHz PCI-X bus interface. Operating at up to 800 MHz, this PrPMC features high bandwidth and processing capabilities as well as low power consumption, making it ideal for many communications and networking applications. GE Fanuc Embedded Systems is showcasing the new PMC721TX at the 2005 Bus and Board Conference, January 17-18, Long Beach, Calif., Booth #39. By utilizing a modular approach to add processing capabilities, the PMC721TX provides design engineers with an easy way to upgrade existing systems quickly without adding significant cost. Fully compliant to IEEE 1386 and ANSI/VITA 32 for PrPMC, the PMC721TX can be configured to run as the system controller (monarch mode) or as a dedicated I/O processor (non-monarch mode). The PMC721TX offers front panel support for two 10/100/1000BaseT Ethernet ports and one RS-232 serial port. Other support includes a JTAG interface for board level debug, watchdog timer, and real time clock. Operating system support includes Linux® and VxWorks®. The new PMC721TX from GE Fanuc Embedded Systems will be available for shipments in February.
