GE Announces First Sub-Credit Card-Sized Multi-Function High Definition (HD) Video Tracker

HUNTSVILLE, AL.— OCTOBER 13, 2014—GE’s Intelligent Platforms  business today announced at AUSA (October 13-15, Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC) the rugged ADEPT4000 compact high definition digital video tracker with electronic image processing. It is the first HD digital video tracker with the capability to perform tracking, image stabilization and video compression simultaneously in a cost-effective package specifically designed to minimize size, weight and power (SWaP) in highly constrained environments such as autonomous unmanned vehicles, man-portable systems and so on.

Measuring just 64mm x 54mm - 75 mm x 75 mm including connectors – weighing only 28 grams and consuming (depending on settings) a mere 4W of power, the ADEPT4000 enables a powerful, sophisticated solution to be deployed that allows for a high degree of flexibility in board location.

“In the connected battlefield, the world’s armed forces are looking to deploy sophisticated computing capability ever closer to the leading edge, and size, weight and power are becoming increasingly critical in system design,” said Chris Jobling, Product Manager, Applied Image Processing at GE’s Intelligent Platforms business. “The ADEPT4000 builds on GE’s extensive heritage, experience and expertise in the development of powerful image processing solutions and combines broad functionality with the ultimate in SWaP optimization.”

The ADEPT4000 combines high performance with low latency simultaneous target tracking with any SD/HD-SDI or parallel digital video signal, electronic video stabilization, moving target detection and video compression. It incorporates onboard serial links and Ethernet, allowing it to interface to most platforms, and is designed for easy configuration and device control with an intuitive web-based interface.

An optional carrier card and carrier reference design is available to speed evaluation, design and integration.
