The MRA4 is the much needed upgrade from MR2 aircraft and will provide significantly improved Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), Anti-Surface Warfare (ASUW), and Search and Rescue (SAR) capabilities required during a conflict within an established battle space.

For the purpose of equipment commonality, spares reduction and compliance with interoperability requirements, our Defensive Aids Sub-System (DASS) installed on the MR4A surveillance platform, is similar to the capability fitted on the ASTOR (Airborne Stand-Off Radar) program.

This commonality will help combat the inevitable obsolescence issues that will arise during the life of both of these prestigious UK programs. The timely implementation of technology insertion will reduce the risks associated with supporting and maintaining this type of program during the expected long life span.

The DASS is embedded in the Defensive System Manager (DSM), which controls the counter-measure facilities available for the defense of the aircraft. The DASS is a COTS technical solution selected from our main stream single board computer, interface and enclosure products.
