Overview

All four devices are independently accessible and may be used in any combination. Each of the connection protocols is fully supported with state of the art controllers. All I/O on the PMC684 are rear accessed. In addition, card edge PCI systems can be accommodated using our PMC239 adapter for rapid prototype and development. Features PCI 66Mhz capable Four independent 10/100TX Ethernet ports Full duplex operation in both 10/100 modes TCP/UDP checksum off loading Fully supports IP Security (IPSec) Four independent Serial ports (RS232/RS422/RS485) 16 general purpose I/O eight input, eight output Smart Modem at 56K Baud The PMC684 provides, in a single PMC module, connection to the most standard network/remote access protocols Ethernet, 10/100BaseTX with full duplex support. High performance DMA engines and third generation control mechanisms allow full wire speed transmission with the lowest possible system overhead. Integrated PHY auto-negotiates to the signaling speed (i.e. 10/100Mbit) of the connected switch/hub. Security Features (optional load) The PMC684/IPSec option provides the IP Security (IpSec) frame formats for Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) encryption and decryption. Keying material is downloaded to each ethernet port as part of the security record. RS232/422/485 with/without termination The serial port can be directly connected to any terminal device. The RS232 serial output has a software programmable baud rate from 300bps to 115Kbps (in the RS422/485 mode it can run up to 1.5Mbits/sec). RS422/RS485 mode can be configured with/without termination. 16 General Purpose I/O The PMC684 provides 8 TTL input and 8 TTL outputs. Smart Modem The modem supports all standard interfaces; dialing, call progress and telephone line interface are controlled through the V.250, V.251 and V.253 compatible command set. Standard modes are all supported: V.90/K56flex, V.34, V.32 and V.22 for data rates from 56Kb to 2400. The Modem can be used in FAX mode for 14400 to 2400 bps operation. All four devices are independently accessible and may be used in any combination. Each of the connection protocols are fully supported with state-of-the-art controllers. Software Support We offer software drivers for all the popular operating systems (e.g. VxWorks, HPUX, LynxOS, Digital UNIX, Windows NT, Solaris, etc.). These drivers have been carefully designed to fit within the LAN protocol stack of the host operating system. All facilities available from the host OS can be utilized with the PMC684.
