Last week saw us at WEST 2020 at the San Diego Convention Center. If you’re not familiar with it, WEST provides the opportunity for two days of networking, discussions and demonstrations to better understand the current and future challenges the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard face. . It’s the premier sea services conference on the West Coast, bringing military and industry together to explore current and future naval platforms and technologies. WEST is co-sponsored by AFCEA International and the US Naval Institute.

Despite the Corona virus, it seemed to be as well attended as ever – we certainly saw plenty of traffic on the Abaco booth, which was home to back-to-back meetings with a number of leaders from the industry’s highest profile prime contractors.

Abaco was showcasing the GVC1001 ultra-high performance graphics, vision and AI evaluation platform, together with our SOSA-aligned SBC3511 rugged 3U VPX single board computer with Intel Xeon E processor.

And, guess what? The SBC3511 won Military Embedded Systems magazine’s Best in Show award! It’s easy to be cynical about those awards – especially if you weren’t a winner…
